Fiorentina started last season very strongly and won their first four matches. They did this while scoring 12 and conceding only 1 goal. This year however, it seems like Vincenzo Montella’s men won’t be able to replicate that start of the season.
The main reason for this is the fact that the Viola ended last season by almost being relegated and their summer signings are far from inspiring. They added Kevin Prince Boateng and Franck Ribery to their fold and only the most deluded Viola fans can hope that these two veterans will be able to turn that terrible end of the season into something better.
Fans seem to share these sentiments and most Fiorentina fans don’t agree with the way their club is being run. Thinking that a 36 year old Ribery will be the difference in a competitive league such as Serie A for them is absolutely crazy.
Inspired Napoli Side
The mood in the Napoli camp is completely different to that of their opponents. Ancelotti’s men have been playing with the freedom allowed by their manager and, in the season which passed, were one of the best teams to watch for fans and neutrals alike.
They managed to add some quality players to their squad, chief of which is the Greek central defender Manolas. Roma’s former defensive stalwart will partner Koulibaly in what promises to be Serie A’s best defensive partnership and punters can expect this Napoli team to keep quite a lot of clean sheets.
Free Scoring Side
In addition to being very solid defensively, Ancelotti’s men are really lethal in the attacking phase as well. Insigne, Mertens, Milik and the like can open a defence with ease and one feels that Fiorentina will get a rude awakening at the start of the new season.
Our prediction is the Montella’s men will find it hard to keep up with their opponents and that they will succumb to a defeat at the start of the season. A good bet would be to back Napoli to win at odds of 8/11, but punters can also try to increase those odds and back Napoli to win and keep a clean sheet at odds of 21/10.
