The Austrian Grand Prix this year will take place on 30 June at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg. After returning to the F1 calendar in 2014, Mercedes has established an absolute dominance in the race. After 4 wins in a row, that dominance ended last year when Max Verstappen won the race for Red Bull Racing-TAG Heuer.
With Lewis Hamilton winning 6 out of the 8 races so far, it’s no surprise to see the Brit topping bookies’ favourite lists. However, last year’s race proved too big of a challenge for both Mercedes drivers, with Ferrari’s duo of Raikkonen and Vettel securing the 2nd and 3rd spot. This gives a glimmer of hope for Ferrari fans.
Of course, bookies don’t think that anyone but Hamilton has major chances to win the race. The defending champion has been given odds of 4/6 to win the Austrian GP, so he’s not exactly a punter’s favourite. Valtteri Bottas @ 3/1 and Sebastian Vettel @ 5/1 are much better options from a punter’s point of view. A bet on either of them will more than triple your money, so if you ask us, your money should be on them.
Charles Leclerc is another driver to consider. Available at 6/1, the young Ferrari racer is obviously talented enough to be considered among the biggest favourites. His odds look much better than Verstappen’s. Even though he won last year, the Dutch driver has been given odds of 28/1, which makes him a dark horse or an outsider at the worst. Of course, if you believe that Verstappen will win the Austrian GP once again, there’s a lot of money to be made on him.
On the bottom of the list, Kubica and George Russell are given only the slightest of chances to win the race (both @ 4000/1). With those odds, you should absolutely skip them and focus on the top quartet.
