Chile to progress to the final is probably the best bet of Copa America so far. The Chileans have been much more impressive than their Peruvian counterparts and have players such as Alexis Sanchez and Eduardo Vargas who can turn a match around in an instant.
Peru comes into the match after recording only one victory in its 2019 Copa America campaign. Their only victory came in the second round against probably the weakest side in the tournament, Bolivia, and that’s saying a lot about Peru’s quality.
Peru’s Run of Luck
The Peruvians managed to qualify as one of the two best-placed teams to finish in third. Once this tournament finishes they will probably be remembered for being on the wrong end of the 5:0 thrashing at the hands of Brazil and not for much else.
They reached the semi-final courtesy of a lucky victory against Uruguay on penalties after managing to kill the game by playing a very negative brand of football. They will probably try to do the same against Chile as that is the only way in which they can stay in the match.
Chile to Qualify
However, Chile will have their own plans. They won the last two editions of Copa America by playing attractively in matches of less importance and by playing compact and tough football in semi-finals and finals.
They are doing exactly that in this tournament as well. Their matches against Japan and Ecuador were both pleasing on the eye, but the quarter-final match against Colombia was a tough and calculated game of football in which the Chileans nullified the Colombian threat completely.
They will do the same with Peru and backing them to qualify to the final at odds of 4/9 is a great value bet. If you are feeling a little braver, you can back Chile to win in full time at odds of 19/20 as well.
